TM-270k is designed to perform the following operations:

cargo handling;
transportation of rolling stock (flat cars, freight wagons, special purpose cars) to work sites;
shunting at industrial yards and in city undergrounds;
transportation of tools and equipment to work site;
delivery of work teams to site;
shunting.

The vehicle is fully self-propelled. The control cabin is mounted on the front end of the vehicle frame. There are two entrance doors located at each lateral side of the cabin. The articulated jib is mounted on the rear part of the vehicle and enables it to perform handling of tools, equipment and track elements. The main and auxiliary power packs are placed under the deck in the middle part of the vehicle's frame.
